Dont’e Thornton Jr. Interview

One of the hottest commodities in the 2021 recruiting class is four-star wide receiver Dont’e Thornton Jr. Thornton has been on varsity for every year at Mount Saint Joseph but missed his freshmen year due to a hamstring injury. It was his sophomore year when he showed what he was capable of. His combination of speed and height, along with his run after catch ability, caught the eye of multiple D1 schools. He initially verbally committed to Penn State before later de-committing to draw more offers. He led Saint Joe in receiving and was key in getting them to the semifinals, in which he broke his collarbone. Saint Joe went on to win the championship, as Thornton recorded 78 receptions for 1881 yards and 26 touchdowns in two seasons. He has now cut his list to six teams: Florida State, Oregon, Virginia, Notre Dame, Arizona State, and USC. With his senior year approaching, he looks to finish his legacy as a back to back champion and to rewrite the record books as he prepares to take on corners at the next level.
